After an excellent week end of North Westerlies, Easterlies are expected on Friday and persisting for the coming week end.
I expect there to be enough North in this wind to make Putsborough very sailable, and I plan to be there on Friday Afternoon

North Devon13th March 2004 |
The weather is milder this week end, with the winds veering to the South West and increasing.
It looks as though there will be some windsurfing during the coming week, hopefully the surf will diminish slightly from the massive 10' last night.
North Devon7th January 2004 |
The weather continues to be mild, with depression systems queing-up in the Western Approaches, this means more wind, waves and rain. After the last strong winds at new year the surf as been excellent.
Now there are southerly breezes with decent waves, but this will change as the wind increases, and backs to the West. Friday will be the windiest day, on shore, with a big swell.
North Devon29th December 2003 |
Early risers were greeted by calm conditions and exceptional surf of around 4 foot, the wind increased and blew off shore.HT is ar 10.34 pm.
Yesterday was a great day for the windsurfers at Saunton, a strong North Westerly as predicted meant cross onshore conditions and good solid clean surf. Bit too much wind really, everyone knackered. Look forward to more of the same on New Years Eve.
North Devon, England27th December |
HT is at 21.03 tonight, and heavy ground swell and spring tides will produce dangerous sea conditions. The wind will blow from the South West force 5 to 6.
BY Sunday the wind will veer to the North West and increase in strength to force 7. Cold.
North Devon23rd December 2003 |
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be warmish and windy. Probably enough wind to sail on both days, with winds from the South West. The tide is late in the day so plenty of beach for flying your new Christmas present on the beach, but of course dark early. So the advice is to sacrifice the Christmas lunch (and your marriage) and go windsurfing or power kiting
Autumn 2003 has been disappointing. Only the last couple of weeks has presented some serious winds and winter ground swells, perhaps it will stay for a few weeks. lets hope so.
